The 2012 USA Weightlifting American Open was held over the weekend (November 30 – December 2), with a number of top CrossFitters taking part in the event.

2007 CrossFit Games Champion Jolie Gentry competed, as did 2010 CrossFit Games Champ Kristan Clever, and 2012 Games competitor Becky Conzelman.

Gentry snatched 55kgs, and clean and jerked 75kgs to finish with a combined total of 125kgs.

Conzelman snatched 60kgs and clean and jerked 86kgs to give her a combined total of 146kgs.

Clever left the Open with a combined score of 157kgs, after snatching 70kgs and clean and jerking 87kgs.

The 2010 Games champ was unlucky not to have gotten a better score, with her final attempt of a 91kg clean and jerk given two red lights. Either way it was a personal best for Clever, with that being the first time she had ever jerked that much weight over her head.

Regional Competitor Amanda Goodman also competed, lifting a combined total of 166kgs, and finishing 5th overall in the 63kg class Clever was competing in.

But it was Games competitor Elizabeth Akinwale who put in the most impressive performance out of all the CrossFitters at the event, lifting a combined total of 181kgs.

Her score was included as part of the 2012 Outlaw Open (held the same weekend), which she finished 2nd overall in. Lindsey Valenzuela took out that competition.

Other CrossFitters taking part in the 2012 USAW American Open were Elyse Umeda and Ruth Pardue.
