Frederik Aegidius: Injury Setback

Regional champion and CrossFit Games competitor Frederick Aegidius is continuing to recover from his recent back injury.

Aegiduis herniated a disc in his lower back while squatting, just days out from the CrossFit Invitational back in October. As a result he wasn’t able to compete for Team Europe in the inaugural competition.

Now, the injury can keep athletes out of action for up to 12 weeks, but Aegidius has already had a setback, after trying to get back into training too early.

The boyfriend of dual CrossFit Games champion Annie Thorisdottir recently wrote an article for Fit as Fu*k website, where he spoke about making the mistake of hitting the weights too early.

He wrote:

“My mental health is strongly connected to my physical health so not being able to train is very hard on me. With an injury like this it’s key, as with many other injuries, not to get back on the weights to fast, even though you feel like you are ready for it. I’ve already made that mistake once in this rehab period and it set me back a couple of weeks.”

Hopefully Aegidius recovers well from his back injury and gets back in shape in time for the 2013 CrossFit season.
