Rich Froning Sets New World Record at Regionals

Reigning CrossFit Games champion Rich Froning has had a dominant Day 2 at the 2013 Central East Regional, setting a new world record in Event 4.

The ‘100’s’ workout, which consists of 100 wall balls, 100 chest-to-bar pull-ups, 100 pistols, and 100 dumbbell snatches, has been referred to as the ‘most painful’ Event at this year’s Regional competitions by a number of competitors. So far, the majority of athletes have failed to complete the workout inside the 25 minute time cap.

Froning, however, had no such problem, finishing the working almost six minutes under the cutt-off time, and becoming the first male athlete to complete the Event in under 20 minutes!

His time of 19:05 was more than a minute faster than Jason Khalipa’s previous best mark of 20:15.

Froning’s performance consolidated his number one position on the Central East leaderboard, and heading into the third and final day of competition, he holds an 10 point lead over training partner Dan Bailey, with Scott Panchik third and 2010 CrossFit Games champion Graham Holmberg fourth overall.
