Week two of the 2013 CrossFit Open has officially wrapped up, bringing with it another intense challenge that tested the endurance, strength, and mental fortitude of over 110,000 athletes worldwide.

Workout 13.2: A 10-Minute AMRAP That Pushed the Limits

After the grueling combination of snatches and burpees in Workout 13.1, the second week introduced Workout 13.2, a 10-minute AMRAP (As Many Rounds As Possible) of the following movements:

  • Shoulder to Overhead (75/115 lbs) – 5 reps
  • Deadlifts (75/115 lbs) – 10 reps
  • Box Jumps (20/24 inches) – 15 reps

This deceptively simple triplet tested the explosive power and cardiovascular stamina of athletes across every division.

13.2 Participation and Average Scores

More than 110,000 athletes submitted scores for 13.2, reflecting the growing global appeal of CrossFit as a competitive sport.

  • The average score for men was 220 reps.
  • The average score for women was slightly lower, at 217 reps.

These numbers highlight the widespread competitiveness and the rising standard across the global CrossFit community during the 2013 CrossFit Open.

Top Performances: Women’s Division

Men's Leaderboard After Workout 13.2

The top female performance of the week came from 24-year-old Danielle Sidell, who recorded an extraordinary 420 reps during her workout at the U.S. Army Base Fort Lee. This score set the benchmark for all female athletes in Workout 13.2.

While her workout was filmed, the video is currently awaiting clearance from the military. Once approved, it’s expected to offer a valuable look at the pacing and strategy that helped Sidell achieve this impressive result.

In the overall leaderboard for women, UK athlete Samantha Briggs shares the top spot with Sidell after scoring 383 reps. Briggs continues to show impressive consistency and remains a top contender for the 2013 title.

Other notable names in the women’s division include:

  • Kaleena Ladeairous, who ranked 8th in the 2012 North East Regionals, is currently 3rd overall.
  • Reigning CrossFit Games champion Annie Thorisdottir sits in 12th place overall, still very much in contention as the competition unfolds.

Men’s Division: Froning Leads While Records Tie at the Top

The men’s division saw an exciting three-way tie for the best performance in 13.2.

  • Josh Golden,
  • Patrick Gallagher, and
  • Australian athlete Ben Garard (competing unaffiliated)
each scored 387 reps, demonstrating exceptional work capacity.

In the overall standings, 2011 and 2012 CrossFit Games champion Rich Froning continues to dominate. After recording 368 reps in Workout 13.2, Froning has secured first place overall after two weeks.

Trailing close behind:

  • Matt Baird holds 2nd place overall
  • Josh Golden follows in 3rd

Notably, 2009 CrossFit Games champion Mikko Salo has positioned himself in 4th place, thanks to two consistent top-10 finishes in both Week 1 and Week 2.

However, the Week 1 leaders faced a setback in Week 2:

  • Kristan Clever, who shined in 13.1, placed 40th in 13.2,
  • Neal Maddox, another top performer from Week 1, finished 62nd in this round.

Despite these shifts, the leaderboard remains dynamic and highly competitive.
