While Canada East is still regarded as one of the weaker Regions in the CrossFit world, it does boast one of the worlds best CrossFitters in Camille Leblanc Bazinet.
The former Games veteran had a dominant Open and was always going to be the one to catch in the female’s division.
In the men’s half, Albert-Dominic Larouche and Matt Lefave were the former Games competitors taking part, while Lusine CrossFit were arguably the favourites heading into the weekend.
With only two automatic qualifying spots in each of the three Divisions in the Canada East Region, there was little margin for error for any of the athletes.
Here are how the leaderboards stand in all three major Divisions after the seven Events:
Men
Once Albert-Dominic Larouche grabbed the lead on Day 1, he was impossible to chase down claiming the men’s Regional title by more than 16 points to Simon Paquette.
Former Games competitor Matt Lefave was in second spot heading into the final day of competition, but poor performances in the final two Events saw him slip to fourth overall missing out on a ticket to the Games by just 15 points.
Jean-Michel Riendeau finished third overall
Women
As expected, Camille Leblanc Bazinet dominated the weekend, winning five of the seven events to claim the Regional title with a score of just nine!
But she did have some strong competition from Michele Letendre, who beat her in two Events, and finished second to her in four others.
Letendre finished just six points behind Leblanc Bazinet and will also be returning to the Games in July.
Isabelle Tardif was third overall.
Team
After a slow start, Lusine CrossFit went on to win the team division by five points to CrossFit Select.
They won four of the last five events to claim the title and book a ticket to Carson in July. Reebok CrossFit FirePower rounded out the podium, finishing 16 points behind.
