While it might not boast the big names like NorCal does, the South Central Region still has a number of quality CrossFitters who, in any given workout, can mix it with the world’s best.
Games veteran Aja Barto, Josh Hoggan and Bryan Diaz were some of the former Games competitors competing in the men’s half, while Jenn Jones was always going to be the one to catch in the female’s comp.
Here are how the final leaderboards stand in all three major divisions after an even three days of competition:
Men
Mike McGoldrick caused a bit of an upset in the men’s half, upsetting all the big names to claim the overall honours. After winning the first Event ‘Jackie’, he went on to claim his first Regional title, finishing four points ahead of Aja Barto in second place.
Barto was in a bit of trouble on Day 2, but his experience and talent saw him finish top 2 for the next two workouts to secure another ticket to LA.
Roy Gamboa rounded out the top three with Josh Hoggan finishing fifth overall and Bryan Diaz ninth.
Female
Jenn Jones showed everyone she’ll be one to watch in LA this July, winning four of the seven Events over the weekend to claim the Regional title with the low score of just 13.
Cassidy Lance was a further 18 points behind in second place with Holly Mata rounding out the top three.
Former Games competitor Candice Ruiz missed out on a spot in the top three by just one point, finishing fourth overall.
Team
While they only won one of the seven Events over the three days of competition, CrossFit Dallas Central was the standout team in the South Central Region.
They finished more than 10 points ahead of Atomic CrossFit, with Get Lifted winning the final Event to claim the third and final qualifying spot.
