21 year old Ben Smith was the standout performer at the Mid Atlantic CrossFit Regionals over the weekend.
Last years third place finisher at the Games won five out of the six events, and set a world record in the final workout to finish well ahead of Nate Schrader and Brian Quinlan, who also booked themselves tickets to the Home Depot Center in July.
Jenn Jones was also just as impressive in the females section, scoring podium finishes in all workouts to claim top spot on the leaderboard. Christy Phillips and Gretchen Kittelberger claimed the other qualifying spots.
2009 champion Tanya Wagner, however, couldn’t manage a podium finish, ending up in fifth position overall.
In the team section CrossFit Greensboro claimed the title, with CrossFit Wilmington, Crossfit Explode and RAW Training all in a three way tie for second. Crossfit Explode was the unlucky team, missing out on a podium finish due to its poorer highest single finish in an event.
