The World’s Fittest athletes might have been crowned more than three months ago, but the 2011 CrossFit Games continues to get worldwide publicity.
Just yesterday I came across an article about a female competitor who took part in the July event.
Australia’s Amanda Allen finished 19th overall at the games, but what impressed me the most is the fact she only took up the sport six months earlier.
Oh, and did I mention she’s 41 years old?
The former professional triathlete was the oldest woman on the field during the games and is only three years away from being able to compete in the Master’s section.
It really is a remarkable story considering the winner of the event – Annie Thorisdottir – is a 21 year old who is now in her third year of competing in the sport.
Allen’s story is further proof CrossFit has no age barriers and should be inspiring to those new to the sport, proving that you can achieve results fast.
We’ll be keeping a close eye on the Australian to see how she fares at next years games, especially with another year of CrossFit under her belt.
