It’s fair to say I’m not the only one in the CrossFit world who finds muscle ups tough. In fact, if I had to name one exercise that causes myself the most headaches and frustration it would be muscle ups.
While the movement is great for strength building, the truth is, it’s damn hard to do!
For beginners, the task can take awhile and it’s best not to beat yourself up if you don’t get it at first because it just takes, practice and a little technique.
There are a variety of progressions and ways to get a muscle up and different coaches prescribe different techniques. In the end though it really comes down to what works best for the individual.
I often do my workouts in a park so don’t get to use the rings as often as I would like. The park does however have a standard chip up bar and the video below shows how anyone with access to such a bar can still work on their muscle up technique.
