We’re approaching the half way mark for workout 12.4 of the 2012 Reebok CrossFit Games Open, and the burning question is, will anyone beat Neal Maddox’s score?
The 34 year old form the NorCal region completed a remarkable 323 reps when he did the workout with training partner Jason Khalipa, and at this stage is still 26 reps better than any other competitor so far this week.
Despite the amazing effort, it still wasn’t enough to give him the number one spot on the leaderboard, with South American Orlando Trejo still in front overall.
In the women’s comp, the two Emilys (Bridgers and Friedman) lead the field yet again, after posting the two best scores for the week, and in the Teams’ competition, RAW Training is the new leader.
At 11am Sydney time, 4pm PT, this is how the CrossFit Games Open leaderboard’s stand:
Women:
Emily Bridgers has been one of the surprise packets in this year’s CrossFit Games Open, and she has shown yet again she is a serious contender for the 2012 title after posting the highest score for workout 12.4, completing 260 reps.
That’s one more rep than Emily Friedman who sits in second spot overall. Third place goes to Whitney Hueser, who recorded the 20th best score for the week with 252 reps.
Last years champion Annie Thorisdottir and 20120 winner Kristan Clever are still yet to complete the workout, as is Julie Foucher, who was sitting in second spot at the end of week three.
Men:
While no woman has completed a full round of the workout, there have been a number of male competitors who have broken the 270 rep barrier so far. None, however, have been better than Neal Maddox, who managed to get 53 wall balls into the second round.
He has now jumped up to second spot overall with Orlando Trejo still leading the field. 2008 Champ Jason Khalipa is in third spot after completing 297 reps.
CrossFit veteran Pat Barber has also climbed up the leaderboard, and is now in 5th spot overall after completing 277 reps. 2010 CrossFit Games champ Graham Holmberg has also finished the workout, and is now in 48th position in the world after pulling out 265 reps.
CrossFit Games Teams:
RAW Training from the Mid Atlantic region is the new leader in the Teams’ section, after recording a total rep count of 1502, the 13th best score so far for the week.
