In The Rx Review’s latest Box Tour series, we travelled to Sydney, Australia to check out some of leading CrossFit gyms in the popular city.
In Part 2 we visited CrossFit Play. The affiliate is located in the inner west suburb of Drummoyne, around 10 minutes from the CBD.
The gym is owned and run by CrossFit Games competitor Khan Porter. Porter, who finished in the top 30 at the 2014 Games, also represented Team Australia at last year’s CrossFit Invitational. He was also the ‘Fittest Man in New South Wales’ in 2014.
According to the gym’s website:
“CrossFit Play is pretty much the raddest place in Sydney’s Inner West to get all hot and sweaty with your clothes on. There’s no mirrors, meat-heads, ego’s or useless machines. Just space, bars, bumper plates, kettlebells, ropes, and people working their ass off.
CrossFit Play isn’t just another fitness centre. We’re a boutique functional fitness studio, with small, intimate classes, each run by one of our expert coaches.
CrossFit Play was born out of a passion for fitness and a love for the community that CrossFit creates. It’s a different world entirely to your regular gym and we like it that way!”
