The field for this year’s CrossFit Regionals has been confirmed with the deadline to accept invitations now upon us.

While the majority of athletes accepted their invites to compete at this year’s Regional events, there were a number of big name CrossFitters who declined the offer.

Here is a look at some of the top competitors who won’t be competing as an individual in the 2013 CrossFit Regionals:

Julie Foucher – As she said all year, last year’s runner-up at the CrossFit Games has decided not to compete at this year’s Regionals to concentrate on her medical studies, despite finishing the Open in 14th place in the Central East.

Lindsay Bourdon – The third place finisher in this year’s Open has declined the offer to compete as an individual this year, just as she did last year. Word is she is keen on going team again in 2013, representing CrossFit Adrenaline at the South East Regional.

Tommy Hackenbruck – The CrossFit veteran is going team again in 2013, hoping to claim back to back Affiliate Cups with Hacks Pack UTE.

Blair Morrison – The fifth place finisher at the 2011 CrossFit Games failed to secure a place at the Home Depot Center last year, and despite finishing 26th in the Open in the NorCal Region, he declined the offer to compete as an individual at Regionals.

Numi Katrinarson – The 24th place finisher at the Games last year will not be competing in the Europe Regional as an individual.

Maddy Curley – After another dominant CrossFit Open, where she finished 124th worldwide, Curley has declined the offer to compete at the SoCal Regional as an individual.

Azadeh Boroumand – Last year’s South Central Regional Champion made the shock announcement that she’ll be taking the year of to heal her body, and regain the passion to compete at the top level.

Angie Pye – Despite finishing third in the Canada West Region in the Open, the 37 year old supermom has declined the offer to compete at the Regionals this year. It’s believed a back injury which she picked up last year may be the reason behind her decision.

Another big name who won’t be competing at the Regionals this year include Jenny LaBaw, who completed the Open in a moon boot after breaking her foot in March. She ended up well outside the top 48 in her Region and didn’t receive an invite to Regionals.

But on the flipside, there will be a record number of former CrossFit Games champions competing in this year’s Regional events. All former male winners have accepted their invites for Regionals with James Fitzgerald, Jason Khalipa, Mikko Salo, Graham Holmberg and Rich Froning all set to compete.
