We can expect to see a new set of CrossFit shoes on the market next year, with the man behind the Vibram FiveFinger, launching a brand new range of footwear this week.
Tony Post, who launched the original Vibram shoe over a decade ago, has now unveiled his new company, called ToPo Athletic (ToPo for Tony Post).
The launch was made possible thanks to a $5 million funding investment from Norwest Venture Partners, who will work with Post ahead of the commercial debut of the brand in May, 2013.
At this stage we don’t know any details on what the shoes will look like, but we have an idea on what to expect.
According to Post, the range will definitely be lightweight, and will be designed for functional fitness sports like CrossFit.
The former Vibram CEO also tells us his new shoes will be nothing like the FiveFinger design.
“This is not another toe shoe, this is completely different,” he said.
“We try to do things in footwear that leverage the natural biomechanics in your body to amplify your training or workout, allowing you to get more out of it.”
And it looks like we won’t have to wait until May to find out what they look like.
ToPo Athletic plans to debut its product line at the Outdoor Retailer winter market trade show on Jan. 23 in Salt Lake City.
We’ll give you more info on the ToPo Athletic footwear range when it comes to hand, or foot!
