Over the last year I’ve seen wood chopping come up a few times at various CrossFit events. So much so, I thought there was a good possibility that it may have shown up at this years 2012 Reebok CrossFit Games.
We all know now that it didn’t, although Double Banger did make an appearance to the crowds delight. I think that event had to be one of the highlights of this years Games and was a great addition to the weeks competition.
Because of the functionality of wood chopping, I would not be surprised to see it in a future event and is why it interesting to see the video above.
The video shows a 17-year-old girl from Australia, who competed at the weekends Royal Melbourne Show in the Open Underhand 275mm. Seeing it reminds me just how precise one has to be in order not to take their own foot off.
So on second thought, it is probably a good reason why Games organizers may have opted for something like Double Banger than risk the off chance some inexperienced CrossFit competitor got too eager and made a wrong cut.
