Well it’s the news thousands of CrossFit fans have been waiting to hear for almost a year now: Chris Spealler is NOT retiring!
In an exclusive interview with HQ, the six-time CrossFit Games competitor revealed that he will be trying to make it seven in a row in 2013.
“What you’ve gained doesn’t just go away,” Spealler said. “If you just want to just stop it and your done competing, it’s not like you’re just gone. Your work capacity doesn’t just go away the next day.”
“If you have it, why don’t you use it.”
The CrossFit veteran signed up for the Open a few weeks ago, after announcing last year he would be retiring from the sport at the end of the 2012 CrossFit Games.
While many of us thought he was just taking part in the Open for fun, we’re now finding out he is planning on going all the way to the Home Depot Center this year.
But not everyone is surprised. A recent CrossFit Poll by The Rx Review found that 65% of us thought he would go back on his retirement plans and compete in 2013.
The question now is, can he qualify for his seventh straight CrossFit Games?
