Late last year we posted an article about a new minimalist footwear brand that was set to hit the fitness world in 2013, called Topo Athletic.
For those who don’t know, Topo Athletic is the latest project by Tony Post, the man who launched the original Vibram FiveFinger over a decade ago.
Since the announcement in December last year, runners, CrossFitters and fitness enthusiasts had been eagerly waiting to see what the first line of Topo Athletic’s footwear would look like.
In late January, 2013, Topo Athletic unveiled its first range of footwear, which featured a unique ‘split-toe’. However, while we could see the range of shoes, we were still unable to purchase them.
The good news, is Topo Athletic has just announced it will officially launch its first line of shoes this summer (northern hemisphere) in premier sporting and specialty running retailers across the U.S.
A number of retailers have partnered up with Topo Athletic for the launch and will stock the brands shoes, including Gazelle Sports, City Sports, Playmakers and Luke’s Locker. At this stage we’re not sure what stores outside of the US will be shelving Topo Athletic shoes.
We’re not sure exactly what shoes will be available for purchase, but here’s what we do know:
- Topo Athletic has unveiled three different shoe designs so far for both male and female, called the RX, RT and RR.
- The range of footwear is expected to cost around $100US – $130US a pair.
- Shoes feature a split-toe design and a zero-drop platform. The heel and forefoot will sit at the same distance from the road surface.
The Rx Review will have a review on the Topo Athletic footwear range as soon as get our hands on a pair, but for now, if you wanted more info on Topo Athletic, head to their website by clicking here.
